Baccharis (Baccharis trimera from its scientific name) is a plant known in the pharmacopoeia of the Guarani Indians of Paraguay and traditional in Brazil for millennia. In Paraguay, it is often associated with Mate, as an infusion, for its multiple virtues. In Paraguay it is called Jaguar'ete Ka'a, meaning the plant of the great jaguar, and Carqueja in Brazil.
