Created by Marc Wiehe, of Mauritian origin, in 1992, L'Avenir was
quickly elevated to the rank of icon, particularly thanks to its vintage
1997 Chenin Blanc which placed first that year in the competition
Chenin Blanc (Chenin Blanc Challenge). It was in 2004, where the
Pinotage produced by L'Avenir was most often cited among the 10
first at the ABSA Top Ten Pinotage Competition and is
managed to classify 7 out of 8 wines. In September 2005, the winemaker
French Michel Laroche, producer of Chablis, acquires the estate
L'Avenir, which offers him the rare opportunity to benefit from a property
exploitable in the extremely coveted Cape Town region. In 2010,
Laroche merged with the Jeanjean family and L'Avenir fell under the
within the AdVini group; the estate thus consolidates its iconic status
of Pinotage and, in 2013, won his eighth ABSA Top 10 trophy
Pinotage.
