These beans come from Kaithapara, a village in Idukki, part of Kerala state in southern India. Characterized by its vast mountains and its stable climate, cocoa was already established there in the 18th century, brought from Amboyna, the famous island of Indonesia. The region is still famous there for the richness of its spices. After India’s independence, different varieties of cocoa, mainly the Forastero type, were established in Kerala. Harvested in the heart of the Velloor forest, this Kaithapara cocoa is a real Indian treasure. May contain traces of nuts
