Historically charcoal has been used to restore healthy gut function, and activated charcoal is still used in the emergency treatment of certain kinds of poisoning. Our product consists of a pure charcoal made from sustainable hardwood sources. It is not activated, and will not be absorbed into the bloodstream, but will pass gently through the digestive tract and out through the stool. Ideal for daily use. Unlike other 'medicinal' or 'activated' charcoals which are only recommended for use over a short period of time, our charcoal is gentle enough to be taken on an ongoing basis.
