All African masks fall into one of four categories: ancestor spirits, mythological heroes, the ancestor-hero combination, and animal spirits. This comes from the Nsukka area, the northern part of the north-central Igbo region of Nigeria. This region has one of the oldest traditions of making complex and diverse wooden masks. *All products are made by hand so there may be some variation in shape and size.
