A Touch of India

A Touch of India started with one mission: to let your space reflect your personality — original, and totally unapologetic. And in doing so, we aim to bring Indian crafts out of India to the world!

Our Story:
A Touch of India was launched in June 2023 However, the idea was born 15 years ago when I, Shruti, started my graduation degree in Textile Design at NIFT back in India. The rich handcrafts native to each region in India always fascinated me, and became the reason why I chose to go to design school. Despite studying Math & Physics with an aim to get a degree in Computer Science Engineering, I followed my heart (best decision ever! Otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this today!).

When I started design school, and learned about homegrown treasuered Indian crafts, I soon discovered that many parts of the world remained devoid of having experienced these rich handcrafts. I started dreaming of finding a way to bring India to the world, but of course got caught up in the perils of the corporate life. Back in India, I worked as a Textile Designer for around 7 years, then I went on to do my MBA at ISB (how one year can be so transformative I did not know! But that story is for another day!). After my MBA, I got married (the not so traditional Indian, yet arranged marriage way), and moved to Belfast in early 2021. In Belfast I worked in Healthcare Sales for 4 years, before embracing the entrepreneur life.

Through the course of this decade long career, I made some invaluable friends, got to travel, make connections, learn soft skills, and was blessed with the most admirable mentors.

At some point, my husband and I wanted to build a living space, that truly felt like home. I wanted to decorate my living space as an extension of my personality with non mass produced stuff, I found myself reaching out to my old contacts in India. They were the only ones who either had the homewares that I was looking for, or were willing to build for me from scratch. The colours, the raw textures and the warmth I desired was found in the hands of craftspersons in rural India. That's when it dawned on me, that this is the time to bring my dream to reality. A dream that was 15 years in making. A Touch of India was born in June 2023! I was ready to bring Indian crafts to the world!

After hustling along side my job for 2 years, in 2025 when only evenings and weekends were not enough, I quit my job and chose this life, which little did I know would be so fulfilling!
