 Ceylon cinnamon takes its name from its place of origin Sri Lanka, formerly known by its colonial name, the island of Ceylon.

 It is a small evergreen tree that can reach a height of 10 to 15 meters. 

Its bark is light brown with a smooth texture and its interior contains valuable cinnamon bark.

 Ceylon cinnamon has a long history of use dating back to ancient times. 

The great European colonial powers considered it a valuable spice and used it in religious ceremonies, perfumes, traditional remedies and even as currency.
