I have teamed up with Mathieu Rivrin to offer you this magnificent view of the Men Brial lighthouse. Mathieu, who needs no introduction, is undeniably one of the photographers in love with Brittany... and it shows! Thank you Matthew :-) The Men Brial lighthouse (in Breton: Ar Mên Brial), a cylindrical turret on a base painted white, is located in the entrance to the port of Île-de-Sein. The etymology of the Breton name “Mên Brial” is uncertain, it could derive from the name brezhell (mackerel) pronounced “brehell” on the island of Sein. Another hypothesis, “krial” meaning to cry, perhaps the women came to mourn the perish at sea at the exit of the port (Mên Grial). It replaces a landmark, now destroyed, which was at the same location.
