Born from a simple keep built on a rocky outcrop in the middle of the 10th century, the castle of Pornic, with its elegant turrets and racy dungeons, has nothing to do with the original rustic building. Dominating the entrance to the port, the castle has long been one of the city’s symbols, but also a bitter for sailors and the city’s emblem. However, it came close to disappearing from the landscape during the 19th century.
