Viking Age Replica Trefoil Brooch
See the wholesale price
Introduced into Scandinavia in the 8th century, this type of brooch was used as a clothing fastener. This gold plated, pewter replica is based on an original from East Anglia. It is handmade in Scotland and measures 52mm by 52mm. It comes with a gift bag and care instructions. Gilding, or gold plating, was carried out on many jewelry items in the Viking age, using the mercury gilding process. This piece has a 1micron thick layer of gold, plated over pewter, to give an attractive representation of what some of these Viking age pieces may have looked like when they were first made.
