Brand History – ASLLI
Since 2007, Aslli has been a Peruvian brand for handmade textile products, deeply rooted in Andean traditions. From the beginning, our goal was clear: to revive the connection between ancient craftsmanship, social responsibility, and sustainable fashion.
Our story began in the mountains of Peru, where the art of spinning and weaving has been part of the cultural heritage for over five thousand years. Inspired by this tradition, we founded Aslli with the desire to preserve the original craftsmanship while creating fair and dignified employment opportunities for women in rural communities.
We mainly use organic cotton yarns, which are spun by hand using the traditional pushka, a millennia-old Andean spindle. The yarns are then dyed with natural pigments obtained from plants, roots and fruits of the Andes. This process requires only about half the water used by conventional dyeing methods, and drying is done entirely by sun and wind – without using any energy – thus helping to reduce the ecological footprint and global warming.
Every piece bearing the Aslli name is made by talented women who previously lived in precarious conditions. Through our fair-trade-based model, they receive a stable and dignified source of income that enables them to gain self-confidence, financial independence, and a better quality of life. We believe that true beauty arises where craftsmanship, ethics and humanity meet.
Our product range includes an exclusive selection of hand-knitted baby textiles and toys that are characterized by their exceptional softness, safety, and durability. Our most popular products include finger puppets, animals, and puppet figures, which are crafted with great attention to detail from high-quality, hypoallergenic materials. Every product tells a story – of the hands that created it and the ancient techniques that bring it to life.
Today, Aslli has grown far beyond the borders of Peru. Thanks to our collaboration with DASLLI UG as our exclusive European distribution partner, we have the opportunity to bring our collections directly to Europe. We supply boutiques, concept stores, and sustainable brands that value quality, authenticity, and ethical production.
