Emblematic watch of the AVI-8 brand, the AV-4052 model has become a reference combining watchmaking passion and aviation. This timepiece joins the Hawker Hunter collection, which was a famous and exemplary fighter plane thanks to its supersonic speed and its exploits in terms of maneuvers and efficiency. Piloted for the first time in the early 1950s, it was withdrawn from the armies of the world in 2014 after great military exploits. Case: The watch consists of a square-shaped case with obtuse angles in reference to aviation measuring instruments. This stainless steel case, 45 millimeters in diameter, is surrounded by a notched crown surrounded by two buttons in the form of a firing push-button allowing the chronograph to be started and stopped. A mineral glass covers the case surmounted by a round bezel. Four decorative screws are located in the corners of the case recalling the details of the aircraft. Dial: The dial of this chronograph refers to the dashboard and cockpit of the famous Hawker Hunter military aircraft. Three counters are present in the dial. At 10 o'clock, a counter in the same shape as the case indicates the minutes elapsed by the chronograph. A 24-hour dial is placed to the right of the dial and then at 6 o'clock, it is a seconds counter that completes the aesthetics of the dial. A rectangular opening reveals the current date. The two main hands as well as the indexes are covered with luminous pigments allowing the dial to luminescent in case of low light. Movement: The AV-4052 model has a retrograde 10-minute chronograph quartz movement with date. This Japanese Miyota movement combines robustness and reliability to accompany this flagship model of the AVI-8 brand. Strap: This model is fitted with a genuine hand-stitched leather strap. Two topstitchings are arranged on each side of the strap, once again recalling the seams visible in the cockpit of aircraft. A pin buckle engraved with the brand logo closes this bracelet. Water resistance: This AVI-8 watch has a water resistance of 5 ATM, i.e. a resistance of 50 meters. This waterproofing corresponds to resistance to perspiration, splashes, rain and partial immersion such as when swimming or showering.
