The Falchini family, today owner of the San Gimignano farm, have been involved in viticulture, cellars and botany for many generations: in fact, they already distinguished themselves in the service of the Medici between the 17th and 18th centuries. The State Archives of Florence reports that:

"Carlo Falchini di Pier Giovanni di Lorenzo, born on August 22, 1627, was granted Florentine citizenship on November 19, 1682 by grace of the Sovereign for having served him faithfully".
The Agriculture Treaty written by Domenico Falchini of the eighteenth century, in fact, reports the following:
“His son Domenico, born on 22 October 1671, took over the management of the company on 4 February 1710 from his father Carlo, former factor of Lappeggi. On 22 July 1713 Domenico was appointed by His Royal Highness Cosimo III de'Medici Superintendent of the villa of Lappeggi (Bagno a Ripoli, Florence)". In fact it was in Lappeggi in 1720 that Domenico wrote his famous Treatise on Agriculture, in which he speaks "of all that (...) around cultivating all sorts and having the vines pruned and having the sorts of noble wines (...) white and red bred, and making the so-called virgin oil and more".

This passion and commitment in the care of vineyards and olive groves and in the production of wines and extra virgin olive oil resumed in 1964 by Riccardo Falchini in the Casale di Falchini farm, is today a historical point of reference in San Gimignano of quality and excellence.
