It all started in colonial Sri Lanka, formerly known as Ceylon, ruled by the British Empire. On reaching the shores of Ceylon, the East India Company began cultivating plantations extending over hundreds of acres in the hills.
Since 1824, Ceylon tea has been continuously exported throughout the world due to the exceptional quality of its tea.
