`Passer-By’ looks at how we are all witness to events in life that we know are not right. When we walk past these things, we are choosing to accept them. This is a large format piece made with many individual layers of spray-paint and screen-printing ink, built up one by one. Each colour swatch represents an individual layer. The original photograph was taken by Arthur Fellig (Weegee) who worked as a photographer and photojournalist in and around New York in the 1930s and 40s, before heading out to Hollywood. I love the starkness of his images, the high contrast black and white, and glimpses into life at that time in the U.S. All pieces are completed on 84cm x 30cm 300gsm bright white card, using fade resistant paints. They are all individually hand stencilled, embossed and will be delivered sandwiched in tissue and rolled in a thick large diameter cardboard tube.
