Pepper is the most used spice in the world and is grown in countries like Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Brazil and Madagascar. Pepper was a much sought-after spice in the past, and for thousands of years it dominated the spice trade between Europe and Asia. At times, pepper was even recognized as a means of payment and weighed against gold. It is still indispensable today and is often used in almost all dishes.
