Blue salt is a natural rock salt with natural minerals and is one of the rarest rock salts available. Blue rock salt is classified into light blue to deep black-blue and violet rock salt.
This rock salt had unique conditions that gave rise to this blue color. The blue rock salt was formed by enormous (tectonic) pressures (during continental plate shifts), which led to a crystal lattice shift in the NaCl (sodium chloride). In this case, the individual crystal has deformed so much that a blue shimmer appears at these grain boundaries. The rare blue color effect in the blue salt is unfortunately largely lost when the salt is ground. To ensure that the beauty of the blue color effect is maintained, the salt crystals are first exposed to blue spirulina and then dried,
before the blue or Blue-violet salt crystals are then added back to the remaining salt crystals to form the additional color spots.
