The Cafés Maurice company was created by Mr. Marc Maurice Levy, in Port au Prince, Haiti in the West Indies around the year 1875. Returned to France around the 1910s, he moved to Toulon where he opened a small unit of roasting and a shop selling roasted coffees, sugar, chocolate ... rue de Lorgues on the Cours Lafayette. The business expanded rapidly in the Var then the neighboring departments and between 1920 and 1934 he opened a large number of warehouses: Rhône Valley, Gard, Lyonnaire region then Franche-Comté, Lorraine ... etc Avenue Marcel Castié in Toulon , the Cafés Maurice factory where large roasting and packaging machines are installed, enabling the company to reach the rate of 10,000 tonnes of roasted coffee per year. This factory made the pride of the city from 1934 to 1982. Several dozen employees ran roasting workshops, logistics workshops, sales and management services. Many Toulon residents still remember the tasty scent of roasted odors today.Based on this family heritage, Boris Touaty, descendant of the founders and managers of the company, has set himself the task of writing a new page of the Cafés Maurice saga.
