Coffee with a high aromatic intensity with hints of citrus and notes of flowers and aromatic herbs. Medium body and with a pleasant vanilla aftertaste. Ethiopia is the country of origin of coffee and the only one in the world where plants are found in the wild. The Harenna forest, one of the largest in Ethiopia, is located in the mountains of the magnificent Bale National Park, 350 kilometers south of the capital Addis Ababa. At an altitude of about 1800 meters, Arabica coffee grows spontaneously here, in the shade of tall trees. For thousands of years, every family has gone to the forest, picked the cherries, dried them in the sun on suspended beds, toasted them, pounded them in a mortar and offered coffee to guests following an ancestral ceremony, a solemn rite, with a strong symbolism of respect and hospitality. The producers collect the ripe fruit by hand, selecting the reddest cherries: an operation that is shared with the local fauna, accomplice and antagonist, respecting the relationship between man and nature. The Harenna Wild Coffee Presidium involves 60 families, promotes the shortening of the supply chain, the protection of quality and the territory and guarantees dignity and fair recognition for the people involved.
