Hand Painted Stoneware Bowl Our new Esponjado collection is inspired by different ceramic trays that we found in antique markets on the north coast of Portugal, and which served as a starting point to create this unique series. ¿Do you dare to discover it? In our new cups, bowls and trays, we rescue the old popular technique of sponging, used in this coastal area, where sea sponges were the magical tool to create patterns on utilitarian ceramics. The bowls with large plates, or the trays and bowls decorated with the traditional triangles or “bicos” in their outline, perfect to combine with plain tableware. The material, highly resistant porcelain stoneware, reflects the spirit of the 1950s and the quality of the materials that were previously used. A tribute to popular art, folklore, the anonymous pieces that we have been collecting over the years and the creativity of the people who one day made them.
