Tropea Onions in Sweet & Sour Sauce

Tropea red onions, which in 2008 obtained the PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) certification are incredibly sweet and crunchy with a delicate, refined taste. Here they have been finely sliced and marinated in a sweet and sour sauce creating an incredible combination of flavours! We love these as part of an antipasti platter, with mature cheese and crackers. They can also be served as a side dish alongside meat or a frittata. Also good on a bruschetta! Not only do these onions taste amazing, they also have multiple health benefits including preventing cardiovascular diseases and heart attacks. They also have a powerful antibiotic and antioxidant effect (and let's not forget that they are a known aphrodisiac!)
