The Chateau Les Couzins is located in the heart of Lussac and thus benefits from the Lussac-Saint Emilion appellation. The vine has been growing for four generations on the magnificent terroir of this region renowned for its high quality clay-limestone soils. In 2021 the 20 hectare vineyard was taken over between cousins, as a family, by Mathilde and Clément Daubech and Raphael Laredo. Mathilde was technical director in the family property of her parents, Château Pailhas, in Saint Emilion grand cru, she has been immersed in the profession since her childhood and the vine has no secrets for her. Clement is an agricultural engineer and operated more than 300 hectares of vines in the between two seas, he has more than fifteen years of experience in viticulture and winemaking and now puts his know-how at the service of the family property. Raphael studied business law and international trade and holds a higher agricultural technician certificate in viticulture and oenology.

The three cousins have made it their mission to bring this operation to life with the utmost respect for the terroir by producing an exceptional wine to satisfy a demanding clientele wishing to benefit from the quality of the terroirs of a region whose reputation is beyond recognition. is more to do.

The cousins work in synergy, on a daily basis, to maintain the characteristic quality of the wines of Château Les Couzins over the vintages and work to sublimate the work of the former owner Mr. Robert Seize. The Château exploits the terroir responsibly, through agriculture with high environmental value. At the cellar level, vinification is done by adding as few inputs as possible, to make wines that will keep for a long time without distorting the terroir and the vintage. A special sorting is done to the berries during the harvest, part of which is done manually.

The fermentation tanks are made of concrete coated with epoxy and are all thermo-regulated to allow more precise control of alcoholic and malolactic fermentations. The estate’s grape varieties are eighty percent Merlot, ten percent Cabernet Franc and ten percent Cabernet Sauvignon.
The vines are surrounded by woods and dotted with ponds, which gives them an interesting biodiversity.

Château Les Couzins is a family estate, the workers of the château are also part of this family at heart and make it a point of honor to provide the vineyard and the cellar with a job well done, a source of pride. The values that we support are our daily values, respect for the land as well as respect for others and the sustainability of our soils are important components of our philosophy. We treat as little as possible and with clean products for the environment and it is therefore quite naturally that we have taken the steps to be certified HVE, high environmental value. We practice an adjusted pricing policy to be able to produce as many bottles as possible and that our customers have access to our wines at reasonable prices.
In the cellar, we advocate the same respect for the terroir, avoiding standardizing our wines by the massive addition of industrial yeasts or sulphites. We put just enough so that the wine can age with elegance and become a great Bordeaux, with perfectly melted supple tannins.
We make it a point of honor to scrupulously respect all the rules in terms of hygiene and the environment to treat our wine-growing and wine-growing effluents in the healthiest possible way for the environment.
Our goal is to perpetuate our vines so that year after year our terroir improves further and can produce exceptional vintages.
We are all passionate about this profession and do our best to provide our customers with an exceptional wine that they will order each year.
