Château Palais Cardinal: the heritage of an exceptional terroir
Château Palais Cardinal, nestled in the heart of the prestigious Saint-Émilion terroir, draws its origins from history. Its name comes from a majestic 12th century residence, the remains of which are located near the old Porte Bourgeoise. Enlarged in the 14th century by Cardinal Gaillard de la Motte, nephew of Pope Clement V, it became the "Cardinal's Palace", symbolizing its historical and spiritual importance.
Since its creation in 1850 under the name Château Moulin de Cassagne 1er Cru Saint-Émilion, the estate has been passed down with passion and know-how.
A family passion and recognized know-how
Today, the Château is managed by Nicolas Ballande, heir to a winegrowing lineage dating back to 1867. Alongside a committed team and renowned oenologist Thomas Duclos, also a consultant for prestigious châteaux such as Troplong-Mondot and Canon, Nicolas strives to reveal the essence of the Saint-Émilion terroir. This duo combines tradition and innovation to produce exceptional wines, combining finesse and authenticity.
Values at the service of excellence
True to its history, Château Palais Cardinal is committed to sustainable and environmentally friendly viticulture. Each stage of production, from working in the vineyard to maturing in the cellar, is designed to enhance the terroir while meeting the expectations of lovers of fine wines.
