All the reds of Tirecul La Gravière come from vines that we took over in 2016. They are located 11 km south of Monbazillac in the commune of Saint Perdoux. This 6.11 ha complex is located at the top of a very dry limestone mound, a Bergerac scrubland. The vineyard is isolated, without any neighboring vines: An exceptional terroir. The vines of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon are between 18 and 68 years old. Round and fruity Merlot cuvée. The ruby color announces a nose of fresh fruit, blackcurrant. Round and fresh on the palate with a supple finish. This cuvée represents a natural approach to Merlot on limestone with red clay in the purity of crisp fresh fruit. This cuvée does not contain any added sulphites. The 2017 vintage is a balanced and classic vintage apart from the destructive frost at the end of April which reduced the quantities by 50%. A fine end to the season brought small berries to full maturity, combining sugar and acidity harmoniously. The care lavished on these grapes is identical to that due to our great cuvées, picked by hand, in boxes with a meticulous selection of perfectly healthy bunches.
