Create for you a soft, warm, reassuring, radiant object... second nature for Caroline, founder of the brand Comme un rayon de soleil.
“I grew up in Martinique, in a sunny atmosphere. I quickly realized how important this was to me.
HAS At the time, I traveled a lot, in the Caribbean, in South America. From this period, I remember faces, landscapes, an art of living, but above all a light that was both comforting and dazzling.
Since I was little, I have always loved to contemplate and then create, paint, draw, especially the Creole houses of my childhood in their smallest details...”
After an intense first professional life in the north of France, marked by meeting many stylists and creatives, Caroline returned to Martinique for several years, to share with her family the warm and contemplative life that marked her childhood. In addition to her professional activity, she has already started creating lamps made from driftwood, wood collected on the beaches of her native island...
How was Like a Ray of Sunshine born?
It was during a Christmas meal in 2015, using a bicycle rim, customized with LED strips, that she imagined a wooden object, “a noble material”, whose soothing halo warms hearts and minds.
In March 2016, she designed the comforting object she had imagined. Like a ray of sunshine sees the light of day. And the bicycle wheels become luminous circles made of wood, and more precisely of solid beech, a noble and recyclable material.
Eethical and responsible
His lighting fixtures reflect his philosophy. They are made in France, in a work assistance establishment and service (ESAT).
A source of pride for the designer. “Helping these young people, whose degree of disability is more or less severe, to reintegrate was essential in my eyes.”
Added to this is an ecological ethic: the brand of paint used is environmentally friendly, non-toxic, water-based, with recyclable containers.
Sensitive, passionate, committed. “It always seemed logical to me that my family would feel good at home.
Like a ray of sunshine, it’s my way of making life beautiful for others.”
