This Velociraptor Tooth (75 Million Years Old) has been mounted in a museum quality bell jar by a member of our in-house team. Unlike the velociraptors of Jurassic park fame, the real dinosaur was roughly the size of a turkey. They were still formidable predators, with an enlarged sickle-shaped claw on each foot which could grow up to 6.5 cm long. Originally thought to have been used to disembowel prey, it is now believed that velociraptors used this claw to tackle and pin their prey - similar to modern eagles and owls. Velociraptors were covered in a fine feather-like coat, which could have possibly been used to regulate body temperature, protect eggs from the environment or to generate thrust and speed while running up inclines. All of our display cases use museum grade 99% UV blocking conservation glass to preserve our specimens, and are supported by a bespoke wooden base. All of our specimens are responsibly sourced and handcrafted to order by one of our Curated team members in our Cheshire studio.
