Leonardian paddle boat

The Pale Boat that we have reproduced to scale comes from folio 945r of the Codex Atlanticus, the original of which is located at the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan. Leonardo designed other models that use the blades as a means of propulsion, pushed by muscular force through handlebars or as in our case by a complex system of gears that allow, through pedals, to transform the alternating movement of the feet into the rotational movement of the blades. The reduction in scale did not allow us to reproduce all the elements that make up the gear system.
