Leonardian tank

In a letter of 1482, Leonardo wrote to the court of Ludovico il Moro in Milan: I can then build covered, safe and unassailable wagons, which with the fire of their guns will be able to penetrate among the enemies without these, however numerous, being able to attack them. Behind the chariot they will be able to follow the infantry, in large numbers, unharmed and without encountering obstacles ... The COVERED WAGON, from a drawing of 1485 known by all as TANK, is found on a page of the Arundel Codex at the British Library in London. The deliberately imprecise design has left room for many interpretations. The chariot protects the soldiers inside through a tortoiseshell structure made up of wooden planks and reinforced with metal plates. The four wheels pushed through gears by a certain number of crewmen, allows you to advance under complete protection. This would have allowed to breach the enemy lines, defeating them thanks to the numerous guns, placed all around the tank and covering a 360 degree field of action.
