1960 - How it all began...
The 1st April 1960 – an April Fool’s joke? No – our founding couple Helga and Wolfram Berge took the step into self-employment with a food market in Germany. Together they discovered the world of gourmet food and got to know society and customers with an understanding of delicacies, looking for and finding products abroad that were hardly or not at all known here in Germany.
The year 1967 was the birth of the original Ticino mustard sauces from Wolfram Berge. The “Green Fig” flavor, which is still the shooting star in the trade today, was created in the sunny south of Switzerland, in the canton of Ticino, by company founder and culinary pioneer Wolfram Berge for Mr. Sandro Vanini (candied fruit specialist). ‘“The Original” has been made according to Wolfram Berge’s recipe for over 50 years. The unique quality is guaranteed by the use of first-class ingredients and the secret family recipe. That's why Wolfram Berge's Ticino mustard sauces always remain “the original”. The small family business has managed to turn the former niche product Original Ticino mustard sauces into an indispensable partner for cheese enjoyment and to inspire creative kitchen artists.
Since 2014 we have been under the management of our daughter Janet Berge-Birghan. ‘I am very proud to be able to continue my parents' life's work and bring innovative culinary ideas to our customers.“Janet Berge-Birghan. The field of activity of our family-run company also includes “creative gourmet cuisine” with innovative product development and subsequent marketing. Our homemade products include: a. many different premium spreads, unique gourmet sauces or our gourmet dishes that can be prepared quickly and easily at home. Seasonal items in particular have the chance to make a big impact despite small editions. These small, sometimes limited editions are lovingly produced, bottled, individually packaged and then sold under the great aspect of being “special”.
In the summer of 2020, we were awarded the Top Brand 2020 seal by the Grocery Newspaper in the seasoning/cocktail sauces category (without dip) for our original Ticino mustard sauces. ‘Trust in the best ingredients, traditional values and recipes ensure the high level of quality and the special enjoyment factor
