Florence Nightingale was a British nurse and social reformer who lived in the 19th century. 

She was born in Florence, Italy in 1820 and studied nursing in Germany and France. 

In 1854, during the Crimean War, Nightingale was sent to Constantinople to nurse British soldiers. 

She worked to improve nursing care and introduced more hygienic conditions in hospitals. 

Nightingale became known for her work and is now considered one of the most famous nurses in history.
