Kansa Vatki / Massager

This traditional foot massage tool carried through Kansa Vatki, has been used in Ayurveda for thousands of years. It has a wooden handle and a dome-shape tip made from kansa metal, which is a mix of copper, tin, and sometimes zinc. While it has been the desired device for thousands of years in the East, its benefits and use is still a novel concept in the West. This metal alloy (Kansa) is known in Ayurveda as the ‘healing metal’. It is thought that copper may help in reducing pain and inflammation, zinc in aiding the digestive and immune systems and tin in aiding digestion, headaches and insomnia. How to use Kansa Wand: This centuries-old treatment begins by bathing the feet and legs to clean and relax them. Then the toes, feet, ankles and calves are encouraged to relax through the application of massage techniques carried out with various medicated oils, best suited to your Dosha. The particularity of the treatment is the use of a small metal Kansa bowl to rub onto and stimulate the feet. There are 107 main Marma points around the body, 14 of which can be found on the lower legs and feet. Stimulating these points can help to relieve certain conditions around the body and free the energy flow.
