THE PIERRE CHARPIN FACTORY

Conceived in the form of a journal, this book brings together texts written by Pierre Charpin over the last two decades. Written mostly downstream of projects, they seek to restore their sensitive dimension as well as the hazards that run through any creative enterprise. By revisiting various projects designed for clients, through his drawing practice, the place occupied by his studio or the role of his various collaborators, Pierre Charpin opens a new perspective on the approach of a designer at the turn of the 21st century, but also on the doubts and hesitations that inhabit the implementation of his projects. By portraying himself as an amateur of the language of forms, Pierre Charpin develops an intimate relationship with sign language throughout these texts. Born in 1962, Pierre Charpin is a French designer, visual artist and scenographer. EWorking mainly in the field of furniture and object design, he regularly responds to orders for various clients such as Alessi, Arita, the Saint-Louis crystal factory and the Hay publisher. His limited edition pieces are produced and edited by the kreo gallery. Alongside this work, he regularly practices drawing, which has been the subject of several personal exhibitions.
