The increasingly small Russian dolls unfurl, each decorated with animals and flowers, each in a different color. It’s very, very long, long ago, not long ago… and here we are! The delicate illustrations lend themselves particularly well to the decoration of Russian dolls, whose patterns also adorn the text page. The very simple narration made up of repetitions lightens throughout the book to make way for a very sweet conclusion, which puts the child at the center of this long story.
