Here is one of the little books that Ruth Krauss and Maurice Sendak have created together, where definitions, precepts and short proverbs follow each other from page to page. Between improbable logic, delicious nonsense and fine observation, they stage the children who are the actors and the extras. Everything is done for them, everything is in order and flows naturally, since children are at the center of the world. What delights us in the determined and tender faces of these children is a powerful feeling of freedom: no nonsense, we bang on each other sometimes, we kiss often, we still live.
