In fact, so much so that we specialize in alpaca wool and other irresistible, sustainable materials. Whether it is the plaid that always warms up on cold days or the scarf that lasts season after season, Elvang Denmark is the combination of timeless, Nordic aesthetics and Peruvian craftsmanship created to last. The design is simple and elegant with a stylish expression in luxury quality.
The story of Elvang is about traveling the world and witnessing quality and craftsmanship that only centuries-old traditions can have laid the foundation for.
And about not being able to let go of those impressions again.
That is what happened when we returned from a backpacking trip to Peru in 2002. Here we experienced up close the traditional Peruvian culture and not least the alpaca, whose wool is considered one of the finest fibers in the world. A year later, Elvang Denmark was born, and we were the first in Scandinavia to introduce plaids in alpaca wool. Today, Elvang is sold in many countries around the world.
For us, it is essential to make sustainable and responsible choices that ensure proper conditions throughout the supply chain: from the salaries of the alpaca shepherd to the conditions of employees at the local weaving mills, transportation home from Peru, recycling of suppliers' packaging and gift boxes made from recycled cardboard. We are Fair Trade certified by the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) at the highest level, as one of the only companies in Denmark.
Elvang is run on a foundation of ethics, integrity and respect - for our surroundings, the people we work with and the designs we send out into the world.
