Once the sponge gets wet, it becomes soft and supple. With a piece of soap or soap flakes in the sponge, it starts to foam wonderfully. This means you no longer need plastic bottles with shower gel in your bathroom. And you don't have to worry about slippery pieces of soap. The sponge massages the skin and stimulates blood circulation. It removes dead skin cells while you have a wonderful foam shower. The sponges are proudly packaged in a sheltered workshop here in the Netherlands that we are happy to work with. ORIGIN This luffa comes from an Ecological Luffa farm in Spain. Every Luffa starts as a small seed in the hands of Juan, the owner of this beautiful company. With lots of love and care, the seed grows into a climbing plant full of beautiful yellow flowers. This flower becomes the cucumber-like fruit called Luffa or Loofah. This is a fruit that naturally has a fibrous and spongy structure. They are also called sponge cucumber. After the Luffas have been picked, they are peeled and processed with local spring water. This water naturally has a temperature of 43 degrees. Due to the many minerals, including magnesium, this provides an antibacterial effect and makes the Luffas even more beautiful. The sponges are then hung to dry in the Spanish wind. The sponge itself is sewn by women in Portugal. The hanging loop is made of hemp cord from France. A product to cherish. A gift from nature made with love for you. ECO FARMING Juan is an idealist with a big heart for nature. He takes very good care of his soil. All natural waste from the farm is recycled through composting on the land. In this way, the raw materials are re-incorporated into the growth process. Juan deliberately does not use large machines. In this way it keeps the soil airy and livable for all small soil animals. Soil animals are very important for the soil. They eat the remains of dead plants and with their tossing and digging they aerate the soil and mix the earth. And the better the soil is doing, the better the Luffa is doing. Juan has chosen an ecological and agroforest company. This means that no pesticides or other harmful substances are used. In addition, the pieces of land are surrounded by trees. This promotes biodiversity, blocks the wind and makes it a paradise for bees. He works with various beekeepers from the area. Juan shares his knowledge with small-scale local farmers and thus stimulates ecological luffa cultivation. This creates a new source of income in this often poor and rural area and the land is cultivated in an ecological and sustainable manner.
