Our species-appropriate, anti-wax moth bumblebee house with wax moth flap offers the perfectly protected nesting opportunity for native bumblebees! The furry beneficial insects can form a colony undisturbed and protected from enemies in the bumblebee house and ensure the important next generation! Bumblebees are among the most diligent pollinators of all! They pollinate for 18 hours a day, and unlike honeybees, they do so even in the rain! In addition, they pollinate extremely effectively through a special vibration technique – bumblebees are the true heroes of our ecosystem! Our Erdenfreund® bumblebee house is perfectly equipped for endangered wild bees! It features an extra-lightweight wax moth flap made of extra-weatherproof and rustproof aluminum. The wax moth flap has a 45° bend, allowing the bumblebee to push open the door using the lower platform – wax moths are not strong enough to do this. Note: Slide the wax moth flap with the entrance tube all the way open until a bumblebee queen has moved in. Once a queen bumblebee has moved in, you carefully push the tube in a little further each week so that the wax moth flap is soon completely closed. This teaches the bumblebees to open their flap. Sprinkle some flour on the platform, then you will see from the imprints as soon as bumblebees have moved in. The ventilation of our bumblebee box, with 6 extra narrow air holes on the sides, gives enemies no chance. The bumblebee house roof is also securely fastened with a nut and can only be screwed on by hand – thus ensuring maximum protection for the bumblebee colony! We automatically equip every bumblebee house with a wax moth flap, a species-appropriate entrance tube, and an interchangeable, perfectly fitting nesting box inside! For the inside of the nesting box, we recommend adding some nesting material in the form of short-fiber kapok wool and fine wood chips, which we offer under "nesting material" if required. IMPORTANT! Do not use cotton wool or yarn, bumblebees will become fatally entangled in them! ÜBy the way, we're also sending you the following assembly instructions for your Erdenfreund® bumblebee house: Setting up the Erdenfreund® bumblebee house The 2 cm thick, locally sourced solid wood from sustainable forestry comes from our trusted forester and sawmill. In combination with stainless steel cross screws, it promises a very long lifespan! For the sake of the animals and our environment, we exclusively use natural wood without chemical treatments! The bumblebee hotel is 100% rainproof! We even carefully coated the roof with natural water-repellent linseed oil, so you get a beautiful pet house that can withstand the elements for a long time! For even longer-lasting shine and protection against the elements, we recommend our special Erdenfreund Tierhaus protective oil. Bumblebees belong to the wild bee family and are unfortunately already threatened! Together we are taking action against insect extinction and creating more habitat for the animals with bumblebee nesting boxes! Insect populations of flying insects have already declined by over 75% within 27 years, due to monocultures, too many pesticides and less and less natural habitat! This particularly affects wild bees such as bumblebees, which are essential for the pollination of countless plants. It is high time to stand up for the animals before it is too late! Tip: Sow our perennial insect pasture, consisting of 65 native wild plant species, in the immediate vicinity as bee food!
