Poster of the painting 'Battle at Ter Heijde' painted by Jan Abrahamsz van Beerstraten in 1653-1666. This painting hangs in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. The naval battle took place on 10 August 1653 during the First Anglo-Dutch War. In the middle, the battle between the Dutch flagship Brederode (left) and the English flagship Resolution (right). There is no single winner, but the English caused more damage than the Dutch. Of the 11 ships that sank, only one was English.
