In 1810, François Cabanne left his native region of Vienne with his wife and his first two children to settle in Charente. His eldest son of the same first name married a charming Charentaise woman from Bourg-Charente in 1839. Since that day, the family home, where many members of the family were born, has been passed down from generation to generation. It then seemed obvious to establish the company's head office there.
The Cabanne family upon its arrival in Charente will develop the wine business, Philémon his only son will develop the distillation. For four generations, the distillery has been passed down from father to son. It is one of the largest in the region with 15 stills.
The vineyard and the distillery have continued to grow, with each generation contributing its stone to the building. Today, Alexis Cabanne, Cellar Master and director of the family company, represents the fourth generation of distillers. He developed the spirits trading activity on the traditional French market and export by creating the company Hawkins Distribution in 1999.
Led by the 7th generation, the year 2023 marks a strong renewal for Hawkins Distribution. After more than 20 years of existence, the family business distributing premium spirits becomes:
Cabanne Family – Cognac & Spirits.
