For generations we have been producing wines and extra virgin olive oil exclusively from our vineyards and olive groves, with respect for the land and with passion.
Azienda Agricola Balbi - Fattoria il Capitano is our family business, in the heart of Tuscany, located on the hills between Arno and Sieve, a few km from Florence. It has been in business for more than a century in the production of Chianti, once in the consortium of Chianti Putto and today of Chianti Rùfina.
It is a "female" company, founded at the behest of Francesca Campanari Balbi, in 1877. Since then, we have been working according to family tradition, maintaining the values of the company. In a path of passion and listening to the land, the grapes and wines of the winery will be certified BIO from 2021.
With 6 hectares of vineyards exposed to the sun and gently sloping, the altitude and the cool temperatures that surround the vines ensure the wines of the Fattoria il Capitano have a precious, elegant and long-lived character.
The company has only been marketing its bottled wines for a few years, in Italy as well as abroad, as far as Korea. Its flagship products are Chianti Rùfina DOCG Riserva, and Vinsanto del Chianti Rùfina DOC, a true Tuscan excellence with international recognition.
The farm also has 22 hectares of olive groves and markets its own Extra Virgin Olive Oil, an exquisite Tuscan oil produced with cold pressing, in bottles and cans.
