Nutmeg is used in both savory and sweet dishes. However, you must dose it sparingly, because its taste can tend to take over the rest. Ground nutmeg is a great seasoning for gratins, béchamel-type sauces, but also lamb and langoustine. For dessert, nutmeg goes wonderfully with autumn fruit compotes (apple, pear, quince, etc.).
