Voatsiperifery

Our wild pepper comes from the Malagasy primary forest. Our Voatsiperifery grows wild, it is an endemic variety in Madagascar and we work with pickers who redouble their agility to pick up this wild pepper by climbing trees. This precious pepper is well hidden in the forest but the pickers find their way around with disconcerting ease. The Voatsiperifery (Piper Borbonense) is the fruit of a vine that grows by climbing along a natural stake to flower in the canopy at the top of trees over 20 meters high, which makes picking very complicated. After picking, the Voatsiperifery (which literally means liana fruit in Malagasy) is dried in the sun for 2 days and then sorted.
