Pinky - Design object S

Klenkes is a familiar term to every Aachener: the outstretched little finger of the right hand is a symbol of recognition and greeting among Aacheners. The gesture arose because of the cloth industry, which was located in Aachen and was therefore naturally closely linked to needles. The little finger was used to sort out defective needles on the machines. So, if you come from Aachen, just stick out your little finger and the person you are talking to will know that you come from the same city. However, the outstretched little finger has completely different meanings internationally: coming from the USA, it is hooked to seal a promise. By the way, he is also slippery: he is also known to many as Pinky. In Japan, the curled little finger is considered a gesture to describe a person who is taking possession of things that do not belong to him. This usually refers to a lover or an extramarital affair. Dear Aacheners on their trip to Japan: be careful, otherwise there will be misunderstandings. For us it is more like: "Hands off alcohol"! We just like to drink champagne in the etiquette of this society. :-)SmallThickness: 8 mmHeight: 19 cm Color: Black Material: Valchromat®The sustainable wood material is manufactured under fair conditions in Portugal.
