It is native to North America and is therefore often called "American lingonberry". The Indians valued the effects of these berries, e.g. B. in relation to strengthening the immune system. The bright red berries of the heather family have it all: In addition to many vitamins and minerals, the "power fruits" have numerous bioactive plant ingredients such as B. organic acids, essential oils, terpenes and especially flavonoids. The latter group includes the well-known "PACS" - Pro (antho) cyanidins, which are held responsible for the positive effects of cranberries. Scientific data are available for the fruits that show a beneficial effect on the urinary tract, which is primarily associated with the "PACS". This is why the fruits are sometimes referred to as the “berry miracle for women”.
