Royat Railways PLM poster

Here is a reproduction of an old poster promoting tourism in Clermont-Ferrand and Puy-de-Dôme. This poster designed to promote the Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée (known as "PLM") and Paris-Orléans railway companies is painted in shades of blue, green and pale yellow. In the foreground we see a young cowgirl from Auvergne with her clogs and straw hat, with a dog at her feet. Further on, a few Salers cows move away towards a buron, a house made of stone and straw. In the distance, the majestic silhouette of the Puy de Dôme mountain overlooks the stage from a height of 1,465 meters. Two medallions at the bottom of the illustration show tourist details of the city of Clermont-Ferrand: the bell tower and abbey church of Notre-Dame du Port and, further away, the Notre-Dame de Clermont-Ferrand cathedral.
