Paimpol is a town known for its fishing port, famous at the beginning of the 20th century, where fishermen used to go to fish for cod. Paimpol is also home to a marina with around 500 boats. The historic town center of Paimpol has many houses dating from the 16th century, including a hotel where Pierre Loti (writer and French naval officer) used to stay.
