The Giloy or Guducchi (Tinospora cordifolia) is a climbing shrub native to the tropics of India, which generally grows in deciduous and dry forests. Its leaves are heart-shaped, its succulent bark is creamy white to gray, it produces long thin aerial roots, its flowers are yellow, its fruits turn red when ripe. Its stems, when fresh, have a fleshy green bark covered in a thin brown coating, dotted with warty lenticels, and are the most widely used part of the plant in Ayurvedic medicine.
