Cuenco de gres con glaseado guan cg001

¡¡UNIQUE PIECE!! This type of medium-sized stoneware bowl with Guan "ice crackle or snowflake" glaze is a unique and unrepeatable piece. It also has a special shape that allows thicker glaze areas. In these areas these kind of overlapping fish scales are created. They are formed within this transparent glaze and stand out against the stoneware of the piece, which is creamy white. This stoneware bowl is a work of high craftsmanship, elaborated and carefully designed in all its details. It is a flower shape medium-sized container. Appropriately sized for use with dry flower arrangements, or for non-liquid foods, such as fruits, nuts, candies, etc. Or simply as a decorative piece. Main Color: White Surface Type: Shiny Glaze This piece was fired two times at high temperature (bisque fire at 980ºC – 1800ºF, then I glazed it some times and it was fired at least once again at 1250ºC - 2280ºF). I prepare by myself the glazes, with balanced formulas, using high quality raw materials. So, they properly melt on the piece in the final firing. Thus they are transformed into glass. This bowl is made of stoneware with chamotte, a kind of sand made with a refractory material that gives it more resistance and texture. I glazed it with Guan "ice crackle or snowflake" glaze. Unlike the others bowls, cups, mugs, tumblers, plates, etc., all made to be used with food found in my store (food safe, microwave and dishwasher safe, and resistant to sudden temperature changes), I cannot certify that this bowl with Guan glaze is liquid food safe, nor microwave and dishwasher safe. It is better to wash it by hand because the type of crackle it has. This special transparent glaze called Guan or Kuan is a Chinese formula of about 800 years ago, which highlights what could be considered a defect in the glaze. But that becomes an effect of great beauty and delicacy. Flakes of translucent crystals that resemble fish scales or snowflakes form within the glaze, but the surface is smooth and shiny. These unique effects are very difficult to achieve.
