April 2 - International Children's and Youth Book Day - 1998 marks the beginning of KALANDRAKA's history, with the motto "Books to dream" and the goal of offering works of the best aesthetic and literary quality. Initially publishing in Galician with a commitment to the linguistic normalization of this language, KALANDRAKA is a multilingual project that currently publishes in Spanish, Galician, Catalan, Euskara, Portuguese, Italian and English.
Self-created illustrated albums, adaptations of traditional stories, recovery of LIJ classics, books for pre-readers, easy-to-read books, book-records, poetry and art are the main lines of work that make up a live and diverse catalogue. With the addition of the FAKTORÍA K DE LIBROS seal, the range of readings is extended to literary fiction, essays, popular science and unique publications.
As a result of the collective effort, KALANDRAKA has received numerous awards, from the 1st National Illustration Award 1999 to the artist Óscar Villán for "The Little White Rabbit" to the National Award for Best Cultural Editorial Work 2012, awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Culture. .
From the commitment to multiculturalism, education in equality, tolerance and respect for the environment; From the commitment to encourage reading to enhance imagination and curiosity, the stimulus is born to continue making books that seduce, excite, entertain and last over time.
