Benifuuki No. 1 - rich in catechins (200g)

This Japanese green tea from the 1st picking in May is very gently fermented in contrast to regular green teas. It comes from the "Benifuuki" tea variety and has a particularly high content of the antioxidant and antiallergic catechins EGCg and 3MeEGCg (EGCg3). The latest delivery that we received from this year's harvest shows impressively what a difference it can make if all the conditions are right at the time of harvest: When you open the pack, a wonderful scent flows towards you, reminiscent of very fine oolong teas. The leaves are nicely shaped and a rich green. In the cup it is in front of a delicate green with golden reflections. Playfully fruity and light on the tongue with delicate bitter notes in the background, in the fragrance with elegant jasmine notes. The productivity is also unique this year: at least 4 exquisite, fragrant infusions are possible. This applies to batches from the best before July 15, 2023 - in 50g and 200g. The production and the scent are far from that of Oolong tea. However, the freshly harvested leaves are not simply heated, but steamed in a special process (Irimushi). In addition, the partial fermentation does not take place in warm light, as with Oolong, but in the dark at a low temperature! Only the further drying and fulling process is similar to that of Oolong tea, but has been optimized over the years in cooperation with the Kagoshima Tea Research Institute and specially adapted to the cultivar Benifuuki. Thanks to this gentle processing, this unusual tea stays green like a real Japanese tea and the active ingredients and aromas are preserved as best as possible! In order to preserve the valuable aromas and ingredients of the tea as best as possible, we ask you to close the bag tightly and store it in the refrigerator or freezer in a cool and dark place.
